This project started as an idea for a place setting for our family Thanksgiving dinner and as I was working with the elements for the place setting I realized it would also create a lovely, rustic Thanksgiving card. So there’s a two-for-one bonus with this post!
Check out my YouTube video here for complete instructions to die cut, emboss and assemble this card. The place setting requires only a few additional crafting items and a different, smaller “Happy Thanksgiving” greeting so it is more proportionate with the overall smaller size of the project. I used a small hole punch to punch the holes on each side of the burlap backing paper, then layered the ribbons and threaded them through each side of the backing paper, from back to front. I knotted the ends to create a slight bend in the burlap to give the piece some added interest. You could also tuck your silverware behind this backing for a complete silverware setting!
This was a really fun project to design and create and I love getting additional mileage from my crafting materials. I made several cards to send to my family members whom I sadly won’t be with on Thanksgiving day, but want very much to know that I am thinking of them. If you make this card and/or place setting please drop me a line and let me know how it goes!
Cynthia
